BREAKING: Red Sox Star To Sign Massive 5-Year, $155M Deal After Huge Year

The Boston Red Sox went all-out last offseason to sign Alex Bregman in free agency, and the gamble paid off. They secured the star infielder, who became a major contributor to their success this year. However, the contract included an opt-out clause, giving Bregman the chance to re-enter free agency this winter.

Now the Red Sox must win the Bregman bidding war a second time, or they risk regressing from last season’s performance.

According to Ryan Finkelstein of Just Baseball, Bregman is projected to land a massive five-year, $155 million contract this offseason.

“After only giving him a three-year deal a year ago, I think it is unlikely the Red Sox double that this time around, but settling on a five-year commitment that pays him roughly the same AAV as last year (when factoring in the deferrals) would make a lot of sense,” Finkelstein wrote.

The Red Sox have the money to make a run at Bregman. They recently added Sonny Gray to patch a hole in their rotation, which is a much more affordable move than many expected. As a result, they have the money to go after Bregman.

There are some other teams in the league who could go after the star, but the Red Sox should be seen as the favorites.

It’s hard to imagine Boston’s front office losing a bidding war for its top star.
